Water Management & Water
Reuse in Horticulture
The Saline Water Management and
Water Reuse in Horticulture Group of
ISHS, conducts a survey for members
and all interested in the ISHS
Workgroup
for
Saline
Water
Management and Water Reuse in
Horticulture and input would be
appreciated. The Group asks for help

Innovation through participation,
a condition for success
Participatory approaches such as
study trips, strategic games, world
café and participatory videos can
support Innovation Support Services to
help bring people from different
professions together to develop new
Operational Groups and help projects
to find solutions. Many European
agricultural initiatives have already
developed
and
implemented
participatory approaches. The EIP-
AGRI
brochure
‘Participatory
approaches for agricultural innovation’
provides many examples.
Mainstreaming
precision
farming: optimizing inputs and
yields
Farms use GPS, remote sensing,
satellite navigation, soil moisture
probes, humidity sensors, weather
stations, soil scanners and more to
save water, fertilizer, crop protection
products and fuel.
Find out more about optimizing inputs
and yields in the EIP-AGRI factsheet
on Mainstreaming Precision Farming.
Agroless project
The overall objective of this strategic
ETCP Greece-Bulgaria 2007-2013
project was the adoption of a strategic
reference framework in a cross-border
region for the support of the rural
population in the application of
reduced input agriculture driven
through the practices of agricultural
activities (fertilization, irrigation and
crop protection).
The project includes innovative
activities like the establishment of a
telemetric network with compatible and
inter-calibrated sensors and the
development of an information system
receiving
support
management
decisions
(DSS)
and
transmit
information for the application of
reduced input farming.
